The Sankara Healthcare Foundation offers a unique Internship Program in India for its dedicated volunteers and their immediate family members.

This program provides an immersive experience in delivering healthcare within non-profit partner hospitals across India.

Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must be at least 15 years old at the time of application and meet one of the following criteria within the past twelve months:

  1. Project HEAL Service: Completed a minimum of 24 volunteer hours serving a shelter through Project HEAL.
  2. Combined Service and Fundraising: Completed at least 12 volunteer hours with Project HEAL and participated in fundraising activities for the foundation.
  3. Fundraising Efforts: Actively engaged in fundraising initiatives for the foundation.

Program Requirements:

  • Duration: Commitment to a consecutive two-week period, Monday through Friday.
  • Logistics: Interns are responsible for arranging their own accommodation, meals, and transportation to and from the hospital.
  • Completion Report: Submission of an internship report upon conclusion is mandatory to receive a completion letter.

Volunteer Hours Recognition:

While the internship encompasses both learning and task-oriented activities, only the time spent performing assigned tasks will be recorded as volunteer hours, subject to hospital schedules and project availability. Observational or training periods, though invaluable for experience, do not count towards volunteer hours but will be considered for letters of recommendation upon request.

Application Deadlines:

  • Summer Internship (June-August): Applications due by June 1st.
  • Winter Internship (December-January): Applications due by October 31st.

Hospital Placement:

Internship placements depend on the availability of our partner hospitals. Applicants can indicate their preferred hospital from our list of partners, and we will confirm availability accordingly.

Internship Activities:

Interns will rotate through various hospital departments, gaining exposure and assisting as needed. Opportunities may include participation in special projects and medical camps, contingent on scheduling during the internship period.
