Vision Centers
At Sankara Healthcare Foundation, Inc., we are committed to eradicating preventable blindness by making quality eye care accessible to all. Our Vision Centers initiative, in collaboration with Pammal Sankara Eye Hospital, establishes permanent facilities within communities to provide comprehensive eye care services.

Why Vision Centers?
Traditional outreach camps offer limited-time services to specific audiences, primarily focusing on cataract identification and refractive errors. In contrast, our Vision Centers provide a continuous, local presence, allowing for:
- Comprehensive Eye Screenings: Beyond cataracts and refractive errors, we detect conditions like glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy.
- Flexible Access: Patients can seek care at their convenience without time constraints.
- Affordable Services: Proximity encourages timely consultations, fostering better eye health.
- Tele-Ophthalmology: Access to expert ophthalmologists through advanced telemedicine technology.
Our Progress:
In 2021, we inaugurated thirteen Vision Centers, collectively achieving:
+ Patients Treated
+ Refractive Errors Corrected
+ Cataract Surgeries Identified
+ Cases of Diabetic Retinopathy Detected
+ Other Eye Disorders Diagnosed
Locations of Vision Centers
Our Vision Centers are strategically located across multiple districts to provide accessible, high-quality eye care services to underserved communities. Each center is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, trained personnel, and telemedicine support to ensure continuous and comprehensive eye care.
Each center is strategically located to serve over 115,000 individuals, aiming to benefit more than 720,000 people over five years by preventing blindness.
With support from Rotary’s Project Orange, we aim to establish 40 Vision Centers across various districts, including:
